All individuals must remain masked during all times while indoors on Virginia Tech campus. The only exceptions to this rule are while you are in a private space (such as an office with a closed door), while eating, or while drinking. Vaccination is highly encouraged for all participants. Social distancing is no longer mandated, so partner dancing will be permitted. Solely Swing will not allow participants to remove their masks while dancing.

The CDC has now announced that it is safe for those who are fully vaccinated to be maskless indoors and outdoors. Since Solely Swing has let out for the summer, this will not be immediately affecting our operation. Currently, Virginia Tech plans to be fully in person this Fall. If this is the case, we will begin having in-person partnered dances and dance lessons once more.

The Governor's mandate has been changed to allow up to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. However, Blacksburg has passed an ordinance further limiting those numbers to 50 people total (regardless of indoors/outdoors), and Virginia Tech is limiting gatherings to 10 people indoors and 50 people outdoors. Therefore, our previous maximum gathering size of 10 people will remain the same.

The Governor's mandate has been updated so that indoor gatherings can have a maximum of 10 people while the outdoor limit has been increased from 10 to 25 people. However, since all of our events are either inside or online, this will not be affecting the club's operation.

For Spring Semester, Solely Swing will only be hosting four events: 2 online, and 2 in person. As of right now, there is a governor issued order that no more than 10 people may gather at a time, which we will be complying with. To make this work, all in-person events now require a pre-registration that doubly acts as a waitlist, first come first serve. If you are one of the first ten people, you will be contacted to confirm your reservation via email. If someone is unable to attend, those from the waitlist will be bumped up. If you are waitlisted for the first dance and were therefore unable to attend, you will be put on a priority list for the second dance.

For Fall semester, Solely Swing will be hosting online lessons every other week with online community nights on the alternating weeks. We will be hosting two in person dances, both of which will strictly follow mask-wearing and social distancing rules for the safety of everyone involved. Attendance will be capped as necessary to comply with the governor's and Virginia Tech's mandates.

On Friday, August 21, Solely Swing will be hosting an "Introductory & Welcome Meeting," where we will be discussing our altered plans for this upcoming semester. While we will still have dancing and community nights, it will be almost exclusively online.

As the state of Virginia has shifted to phase 2 of reopening and Virginia Tech, Solely Swing is trying to give our members the best experience possible. We are still discussing the logistics of hosting Fall dances, and have yet to make a decision.
We have decided to host online community nights to allow communication and connection between all our members! If you are interested, please fill out this form to let us know what you would like to do during this time. Thank you, and we can't wait to dance with you again! |

In order to protect the health of all of our participants, Solely Swing has decided to postpone all events until further notice. The St Patrick's Day Dance that was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21st is cancelled, and we will not meet for community nights or progressive lessons until further notice.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this process. If you have questions or concerns, you are always welcome to reach out to us via messenger or by emailing [email protected]. |
